Open source browser capture engine for web interfaces
SnapDOM is a fast, zero-dependency browser capture engine that turns any DOM element into an image directly in the browser. It can capture live web interfaces as SVG, PNG, JPG, WebP, Blob, or canvas without sending content to a server. SnapDOM preserves complex web content including styles, fonts, pseudo-elements, Shadow DOM, iframes, and background images. Its plugin system also adds capabilities such as HTML extraction, AI-agent context, and PDF, GIF, and video exports. Designed for developers, SnapDOM runs entirely client-side and is released as free, open-source software under the MIT license. It has also been benchmarked against tools such as html2canvas, html-to-image, and modern-screenshot for performance.
